Dear 4th and 5th Grade parents, In 1990, we began an early morning activity program in the gym for our 4th and 5th grade students. The gymnasium is designated for various physical education activities. These activities in the gym consist of 1 on 1 basketball, rope jumping, 2 on 2 badminton, ping pong, and other activities. Our goals for the early morning program are to achieve the following:
The program begins each morning at 7:00 a.m. and ends at 7:30, at which time the students are lined up for dismissal. Participation is strictly voluntary. Coach Scott Andrews and Coach Ashley Wyatt, (our physical education teachers), will coordinate the activities in the gym. Talk with your child about following this simple procedure each morning upon arrival at school. All 4th and 5th graders must attend the gym when arriving to school. Proceed to the location slowly and quietly, following all school rules. All students should also adhere to these 3 rules while in the EMAP.
1st - We expect our children to support each other. Teasing and making fun of others will not be allowed. 2nd - We expect our children to demonstrate good sportsmanship. Arguing and yelling at each other will not be tolerated. 3rd - We expect our children to behave appropriately at all times. Horseplaying will not be allowed.
Going to our Early Morning Activity Program (EMAP) is a privilege for our 4th and 5th grade children. We set high standards in this area to protect the safety of our children.
1st Offense - child loses EMAP privileges for 1 week 2nd Offense - child loses EMAP privileges for 2 weeks. 3rd Offense - child loses EMAP privileges for 1 month. 4th Offense - child loses EMAP privileges for the remainder of the year. Children losing EMAP privileges report to the auditorium for regular bus room. Any misbehavior in the bus room results in a loss of privileges for the remainder of the year. We are constantly striving to prepare our young people for the future. The above program will provide many opportunities for your child to develop mentally, physically, socially, and emotionally. In good health, Physical Education Department
