Congratulations Stock Market Teams
Two teams of 5th graders from Mrs. Wofford's class participated in the Stock Market Game from January 25th through April 1st. The Stock Market Game in an investment simulation sponsored by South Carolina Council on Economic Education. The simulation takes place in all 50 states and in other countries as well.
During the contest, each team is given a virtual $100,000 account to invest in stocks. Together, they research various companies to determine which companies to invest in. They monitor their portfolios, buying and selling as they see fit, in an effort to have the greatest return on their investment. Both teams competed against 146 other elementary school teams across the state of South Carolina.
The girls team with Ashley G., Emily D., Juliet M., and Lyuda C.came in 9th place out of all SC elementary schools, and 27th place out of all 487 SC elementary, middle, and high school teams.
The boys team with Andrew D., Mark K., Parthak P., and Thomas C. came in 3rd place out of all SC elementary schools, and 15th place out of all 487 SC elementary, middle, and high school teams. As a result, the boys will be invited to the Annual Awards Luncheon held in Columbia, SC later this month.
